The Smooth Motion Media Group is a highly respected international Motion Picture Film and Television production company based in Los Angeles, California. But, by definition, SMMG is an investment in people. A highly creative, experienced and passionate team with an unquenchable thirst for telling intriguing and highly entertaining stories that the world actually want to see.
We are a company built on integrity, reputation, and internationally recognized award-winning film & television excellence. A company that not only understands the business of film & television, but also provides a creative nursery for us to cultivate and develop a new generation of unique and entertaining stories to share with the world.

Our Team

Our Key Creative Team is the secret behind our success. We come from diverse backgrounds, spanning multiple countries and bringing an unparalleled wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. We are hard working, intelligent, practical, pragmatic, insightful and creative. Our strong work ethics and passion for creation is what has driven us to our award winning successes so far, yet our strong bond is our single most important asset.

The three key powers behind the Smooth Motion Media Group are filmmakers A.J. Carter and Joe Brouillette, and partner John Linton, who collectively have covered nearly every job associated with film & television in both production and business / financing.
A.J. Carter
Founder / Managing Partner / Executive Producer
Founder and Executive Producer for Smooth Motion, A.J. has been working in the Film & Television industry since the age of 16. The Australian born writer/director now lives in Los Angeles, California and lays a company foundation built from over 250 network show credits, and hundreds of hours of programing, collectively delivering content for companies and networks such as Discovery, A&E, MTV, Zoo Productions, Fox, TruTV, Spike, Disney, and National Geographic.
A.J’s motion picture film debut ‘Ronan’s Escape’ which he wrote, produced and directed, received worldwide critical acclaim screening at more than 20 international film festivals and earning both himself and Smooth Motion a total of 13 international film award nominations and 10 wins, including the Van Gogh World Cinema Directing Award at the Amsterdam International Film Festival, and Best Film at the 17th Annual Sedona International Film Festival. He has since produced & directed an array of film and television projects with the likes of James Cameron, Jennifer Lopez, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
A.J’s vast entertainment experience, strong intuition, and clear company vision are the creative forces behind driving Smooth Motion and its collaborative subsidiaries into the next generation of innovative award winning Film and Television content.
As VP of Development for Smooth Motion Media Group, Joe is responsible for working with outside writers as well as creating original content.
With SMMG, Joe has developed the action thriller VeronicA, the supernatural thriller The Missing, and the company’s first tentpole Sci-Fi trilogy The Ark. On the scripted television side, Joe has developed the drama pilots See Howard Run, Money Shot, and Stowaway, and is the co-writer with A.J. Carter of the comedy Confessions of a Hollywood Scoundrel. Joe and A.J. were tapped to write the martial arts thriller Black Dragon for AEI and Filmscope. Joe recently completed the kids adventure Ilya Ivchenko and The Lost Temple of Artemis for Russia’s Fresh-Film Productions.
Joe came to SMMG from Kiros Pictures in 2012. Under the Kiros banner, he wrote and produced a multitude of award-winning short form and new media content, including Sissy Frenchfry, starring Emmy winner Leslie Jordan. The film swept the 2006 PlanetOut Short Film Awards, taking home both the grand jury and audience prizes. Sissy played at more than twenty-five festivals worldwide, aired on MTV’s Logo network, and was distributed on Netflix, iTunes, and DVD worldwide. His follow-up film Brotherly, released online, has received over 2,000,000 views and counting. Joe’s producing credits include the festival hit feature film Dirty Beautiful, the short film Flowers and Weeds starring Tanc Sade (Roadies, Childhood’s End) and featuring Academy Award winner Terence Stamp, Taylor Warren, 3 For Anna, First Date Meltdown, and Fun With War Crimes. In addition, Joe is the author of more than fifteen feature-length screenplays, including the film noir The Knife for Bright Shining City productions, the horror thriller Mogwai for Silent Light Pictures, and a big screen adaptation of Ruth Chew’s classic children’s novel What The Witch Left for Persistent Entertainment. His romantic drama Dogboy was a finalist in Francis Ford Coppola’s American Zoetrope screenwriting contest. Joe is a graduate of the University of California Berkeley with a degree in Literature and Dramatic Arts.
John Linton
Executive Producer / Partner
John has over 20 years of executive experience in early stage, high growth companies focused on media content, content delivery and technology. In addition to actively serving as Executive Producer and Partner of the Smooth Motion Media Group, Mr. Linton is the Managing Director for Clearview Partners II, LLC, a boutique investment banking and business development firm focused on early stage and growth stage companies.
Mr. Linton’s impressive career porfolio includes the operation of various size companies ranging from early stage start-ups to companies with excess of $50 Million in annual revenue. Additionally, John has been responsible for investment activity and acquisition transactions in excess of $250 Million dollars, including the sale of several of his companies to large public entities.
Since his first feature film venture in 2005 with writer /director Joel Silverman, John has been actively involved with many facets of the entertainment industry including film, television, internet entertainment delivery, celebrity endorsements and entertainment brand commercialization. With John’s passion and in depth knowledge of the entertainment industry, his extensive business and investment experience spearheads the finance and business sector of the Smooth Motion Media Group and its subsidiaries.
